36 controls specific to online services for children
We have had feedback from a number of LOCS clients asking how they might apply LOCS:23 to solutions or services that process children's data. Based on the ICO Children's Code we have put together a set of controls that complement the LOCS:23 standard enabling compliance measurement for these services.
These controls are currently under final review with the ICO to be included in a new certification.
For LOCS:23 certified bodies we are publishing these controls as a free of charge optional supplement under the brand Protect Plus AI.
These controls will NOT form part of the LOCS:23 certification and will NOT require auditing by the Certification Body. They are to be seen as a voluntary supplement for those wanting to measure compliance of children's services to ICO standards.
-
The Protect Plus CC controls are in the same format as LOCS:23.
-
The Protect Plus CC Compliance Statement is a questionnaire with responses confirming compliance with each control.
We will be providing an online self-certification facility enabling external verification here www.224certification.com
The process will be as follows:
1 Review the Protect Plus CC standard and Protect Plus Compliance Statement documents
2 Complete a gap analysis against the CC standard controls
3 Remediate any findings
4 Optionally submit the Compliance Statement online to receive external verification and a certificate.
The new CC supplemental standard and the Compliance Statement questionnaire are available FREE OF CHARGE for existing LOCS:23 certified organisations as is the submission and verification process. If you previously used a LOCS:23 Approved Implementor, the documents will be available from them. If not they can be found in the Approved Implementor register
